Local Tea in Western Washington?!?
Dec 04, 2024In December we planted tea (Camellia sinensis)! This is a crop that has not historically been cultivated in our region. We are collaborating with the fabulous Snohomish County Conservation District (thank you, Carrie!) on a Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) Specialty Crop Block Grant for understory crops beneath sugaring maples. Rooted NW member and knowledgeable tea enthusiast Monique will steward these beautiful plants and experiment with harvesting and drying techniques so we can enjoy locally grown green tea one day. Congratulations and thank you!
