Harvest Season: Celebrating the Abundance of Rooted NW

Harvest Season: Celebrating the Abundance of Rooted NW

Fall has arrived at Rooted Northwest, and with it comes a sense of abundance across the land. The fields, orchards, and barns are full of life, color, and flavor — a reminder of what it means to live close to the rhythms of the seasons.

Lavender, Herbs & Tea Making

For Steffi and the team at River Raven Herbs, fall is lavender harvest season — a time when the fields are filled with color and fragrance. It’s also the season for tea-making.

Wild & Free Herbal Tea blends nettles, native wooly mint, and rose petals harvested right here, while Wise Woman Herbal Tea features calendula, purple clover, and holy basil grown with care.

Each blend is a little piece of the land, crafted to carry us into the colder months with warmth and wellness.

Apples, Animals & Family Traditions

Nothing says fall like apples — and the kids of Rooted NW know it best. Aza, Manus, and Hana spent part of their autumn feeding crisp apples to Ms. Pigglesworth, our beloved pig. These small moments of joy remind us that abundance isn’t just in the harvest itself, but in the ways we share it with one another.

The Changing Land

Beyond the fields, fall is alive with movement and color. The poplar by the frog pond fills with migratory birds each season, offering a living soundtrack to the shifting days. The trees, the skies, and the soil all carry their own signs of autumn — signals that the land is preparing for rest after months of growth.

Yuko says: “What I love most about autumn on the land are the small, grounding moments: big leaf maple leaves turning yellow, a quiet walk in the rain, checking on the pumpkins at Reconnecting Roots Farm, sipping on tea lovingly crafted by River Raven Herbs, and admiring vibrant fall blooms at Kestrel Meadow Blooms.”

Gathering the Harvest Together

The season of harvest is about more than food — it’s about gathering together to celebrate what the land gives us. This fall, neighbors will share produce, teas, herbs, and stories at our Fall Farm Fest on October 12th. It’s an invitation to taste the abundance of this place, meet the people shaping it, and imagine what life will feel like here in seasons to come.
